Since 1954, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has provided quality programs to Northeast Valley youth. In that time, more than 100,000 children and teens have been served. Today, more than 16,000 community youth ages 6 to 18 are served through the organization's nine branches and 12 outreach sites located in Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Hualapai Indian Community and other Northeast Valley neighborhoods.
The Club offers more than 100 quality after-school and summer programs in a positive, safe, supervised environment. Programs offered at the Club are built around five core areas: the arts, character & leadership development; education & career development; health & life skills; and sports, fitness & recreation.
Responsibilities:
BGCS is offering an internship to college juniors and seniors who are currently pursuing a degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising or a related field. Intern will learn about media relations, publicity, and marketing and fundraising in a fast-paced environment for a local non-profit organization. Intern will assist with all tasks required in a busy development and marketing environment such as creating correspondence, proofreading, editing, handling mailings and e-blasts, special events, and working on collateral materials.
Requirements:
- Enrolled in a college or university and working towards an undergraduate degree in a related field.
- Must be available a minimum of 10-15 hours per week Monday through Friday (hours are flexible, but need to be between 8am-5pm); some weekends/evenings will be required for events.
- Access to transportation – intern may need to travel to various locations in greater Scottsdale to complete necessary tasks, projects, as well as assist at special events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask
- Must be able to work independently and give input on creative ideas to management
- Previous office experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office helpful
This is an unpaid internship. BGCS will assist the selected intern in applying for college credit; however, it will be the responsibility of the intern to submit all the necessary paperwork to receive credit.
