Position: Communications Intern
The North American Center for Transborder Studies (NACTS) at ASU is a public policy advisory group committed to making North America a more prosperous, safe, and sustainable continent through encouraging collaboration between the United States, Canada and Mexico. NACTS is looking for a saavy intern who will stay up-to-date and write on the center’s current projects, partners and events. This position is like a reporter—NACTS is looking for an intern who is curious about international issues, asks lots of questions, and will be able to post new web site content as well as coordinate media for events. Plenty of opportunity awaits this position—the intern will gain great career experience as well as meet high profile center partners. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate content for the NACTS web site, ensure timeliness of all information, and coordinate content updates with the staff.
- Prepare online and hardcopy event reports, participant surveys, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials as needed.
- Conduct frequent interviews with staff and partners for developing stories or event reports.
- Participate in strategic communications planning for center projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate with members of the press and media to schedule and arrange staff and event participant media interviews.
- Assist in the writing, editing and formatting for center newsletters, brochures, e-newsletters, web content, Policy Analysis Review (PAR) series, press releases, reports and other communications pieces as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be a current ASU undergraduate or graduate student.
- Knowledge of web design and content management systems such as Drupal. Experienced in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
- Fluent in Spanish and interested in international issues.
- Flexible, adaptable, ability to respond to new opportunities quickly.
- Skilled in written and verbal communication, and oral/written/media presentation.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, teams, and community members.
- Ability to work with a variety of constituents including internal and external organizations, faculty, staff and community members.
Information:
Start Date: As soon as possible.
End Date: As long as the student is available to work.
Hours Per Week: 15-20
Salary: $12.00 per hour
College Credit: NACTS is happy to help the student coordinate college credit.
